CertX · Version 0.45.1What is CertX?
CertX reads technical drawings, extracts every inspection characteristic (dimensions, tolerances, threads, position tolerances, surfaces, notes) and presents it as a structured, editable specification. The reviewed characteristics flow into an ISO 9001 inspection sheet.
CertX does not issue ISO certificates. It produces audit-ready inspection documentation that supports an ISO 9001 quality system.
Sign-in & security
You sign in with email and password. On first sign-in you must change the system-generated initial password before you can use the application.
Two-factor authentication (TOTP) is required for every account: right after the first password change you set it up with an authenticator app; CertX cannot be used before that. New phone? Profile & settings → Security, “Switch authenticator” — the old device is removed only once the new one is confirmed. Lost your phone? Your administrator resets your 2FA, and you set up a new device at the next sign-in. Once 2FA is set up, CertX releases data only after the code from the authenticator app, not after the password alone — including direct access to the API.
- Open an authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, 1Password, Aegis).
- Scan the QR code under “Profile & settings” (account menu, top right), or enter the key manually.
- Enter the displayed 6-digit code to confirm.
From drawing to protocol
- Open a drawing: the drawing appears on the workspace.
- Extract characteristics: CertX detects dimensions, tolerances, threads, position tolerances and surfaces and marks them colour-coded on the drawing.
- Review & correct: every characteristic is editable. Confirm or correct the value; corrections are captured and improve recognition.
- Create protocol: the characteristics flow into the ISO inspection sheet QF-IQC-01 — fill in digitally or print for manual entry.
- First article inspection (aerospace): “AS9102” on the protocol opens Forms 1–3 to AS9102 Rev C. Form 3 takes balloon number, requirement and measured value from the protocol; you add reference location, characteristic designator, tooling and NCR number there. Export as Excel (.xlsx) or PDF.
File formats
Drawings: PDF (vector or scanned), DXF, and scans and photos (JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF). A DXF file is taken over 1:1 as a drawing and read like a CAD PDF — with the reading engine of your choice.
3D models: STEP/STP, IGES/IGS and STL. CertX turns them into an inspection sheet with a shaded view and writes the characteristics straight from the model data — no AI, so the engine choice does not apply:
- Overall size (length, width, height) for every model — as reference dimensions, not inspected.
- STEP AP242: embedded dimensions, fits and GD&T with datums (semantic PMI).
- IGES: the dimensions stored in the file.
- STL stores no units (read as millimetres) and no tolerances.
If a model carries no tolerances, add the characteristics in the workspace — or also upload the technical drawing as PDF or DXF. DWG is not supported: please export to DXF or PDF — every CAD system can.
Roles
- Master (Siyaya Digital): creates companies and individuals, sees the cross-tenant accuracy dashboard — but no drawing content.
- Admin (company): manages their own team, resets passwords, full use of the application.
- User: uploads drawings, extracts, edits characteristics, creates and signs off protocols.
Reading engine: Claude or built-in
When you click “Extract characteristics”, CertX asks what should read the drawing. Preselected is the engine the drawing was last read with — for new drawings the default that administrators set under “Profile & settings → Reading engine”. If administrators also tick “Lock for all users” there, no dialog appears: every drawing of the tenant is then read with that engine.
- Claude (AI): highest accuracy, including scans, handwritten additions and very dense drawings. Customer data can be kept apart from the drawing first: what you black out, Claude never sees; details from a blacked-out title block are read by CertX on its own server (see “Redaction and anonymous reading”).
- Built-in engine: no AI provider, drawings never leave CertX. Reads the text layer of CAD PDF exports exactly; scans and images through text recognition. Uncertain values get a low confidence and land in review mode. If the built-in engine is the tenant’s default, the Butler is off too.
Redaction and anonymous reading
Use “Redact” in the toolbar to cover client data: drag a rectangle to black out, click a box to remove it. “Suggest client data” finds company names, addresses, contact details, confidentiality notices and people as well as possible logos in the title block (picture marks without readable text). “Black out title block” covers the whole title block up to its frame lines. Both run on the CertX server, without an AI provider. Check every suggestion — logos are not always found.
When you read a blacked-out drawing with Claude, Claude gets only the redacted version: the rectangles are burned into the image on the server, and the covered areas are neither transmitted nor read. CertX sends the first page, where redaction happens; further pages of a PDF are then not sent. Title, drawing number, material, index and general tolerance that Claude cannot see because of the redaction are read by CertX on its own server from the original file. The built-in engine reads on the CertX server anyway and uses the original file.
Photos stored rotated and WebP files cannot be redacted reliably — CertX then does not send them to Claude. Upload the drawing as PDF or PNG, or read it with the built-in engine.
If you start a Claude read without having blacked anything out, CertX asks first: “Black out first” opens the redaction tools, “Read with Claude anyway” reads the full drawing. “Don’t show this notice again” turns the question off for your account; Profile & settings → Reading engine turns it back on. Every answer is stored in the event log with date, time, your name and the notice text shown; without a stored answer, nothing is read.
Administrators can switch on “Black out automatically before Claude” under Profile & settings → Reading engine. CertX then blacks out the title block, detected client data and possible logos before every Claude read — on the CertX server, without AI — and saves the boxes with the drawing, so you can see what was covered. If CertX finds no title block and nothing is blacked out, the drawing is not sent to Claude.
Private reading — the drawing stays in your browser
Under “New drawing” → “Read privately”, the built-in engine reads a drawing (PDF, PNG or JPG) right in your browser. The file is not uploaded, not stored and not shown to any AI provider; the result stays in your browser too. The first time, the browser loads the engine — program code and text-recognition models, about 12 MB — from CertX and keeps it in its cache.
You see the balloons on the drawing and the characteristics in a table, correct labels, delete false hits and enter gauges and measured values; measured values are judged against the tolerance. What the engine has learnt from your company’s corrections applies here as well.
There is no archive, history or release: export the result as an inspection sheet (CSV for Excel), as AS9102 forms (Excel) or print it as PDF before you close the tab. Corrections made while reading privately do not feed the engine’s learning. DXF, 3D models and WebP, and reading with Claude, are available only with a normal upload.
Administrators can switch on “Private reading by default” under Profile & settings → Reading engine. “New drawing” then opens private reading for all users; “Upload and save instead” leads to the normal upload. The change is stored in the event log with the name of who made it.
Supplier directory
Under “Suppliers”, members find about 360 European suppliers of stainless steel, nickel alloys and semi-finished products. Every entry is taken from the supplier’s own website (imprint, contact and product pages) and names its source and the date it was checked: address and further locations, phone, fax, e-mail, web, products, grades, services and certifications.
- One search for everything: company name, city, postcode, product or contact. Several words narrow it down (“tubes Hamburg”).
- Grades in any notation: “1.4404”, “14404” and “316L” find the same suppliers; the recognised material numbers are marked in the results.
- Filter by country, city, postcode (the start is enough: “40” finds 40xxx), product group (sheet, tubes, fittings, bar, cutting, surface finishing …) and certification (ISO 9001, EN 9100, PED/AD 2000 … — as stated on the supplier’s website); the numbers show how many results each filter gives. City and postcode include branches — if only a branch matches, the card says which. Radius search: enter a full postcode and choose a radius (10–200 km); results are sorted by distance (as the crow flies), across borders unless a country is chosen. If the postcode exists in several countries, CertX names the others.
- “All details” expands the full listing. Phone numbers, e-mail addresses and websites are directly clickable.
Deleting drawings and your account
To delete a drawing, open it and go to “Master data” → “Delete drawing”. This deletes the file, the preview, the extracted characteristics and protocol drafts. The person who uploaded the drawing and administrators can do this.
A drawing with completed inspection protocols (released, rework, quarantine, return, scrap) cannot be deleted: those protocols are quality records and are opened through their drawing.
To delete your account, go to “Profile & settings” → “Delete account”. This deletes your sign-in, profile and letterhead with logo. Drawings and protocols belong to your company and stay, no longer linked to your account.
Data protection
Your data is stored in the EU (Frankfurt). AI reading uses the Claude API of Anthropic (USA) under a data processing agreement and EU Standard Contractual Clauses; it runs server-side and tenant-scoped. Details, processors and your data-subject rights are in the privacy policy.
Changelog
- Security: user accounts, roles and tenant membership can now be created, changed and removed in the database only through CertX itself. The tenant settings of the reading engine now require two-factor sign-in in the database as well.
- Completed inspection protocols stay as quality records: they can be neither deleted nor turned back into a draft, also directly in the database. A drawing is deleted only by whoever uploaded it and by administrators.
- Drawings, readings, characteristics, protocols and corrections refer only to data of their own tenant, and initial passwords are read by the server only.
- Private reading by default: administrators can set under Profile & settings → Reading engine that “New drawing” opens private reading for all users — the drawing stays in the browser. Normal upload stays one click away. Every change is logged.
- Full ISO 286: fit sizes are now resolved for every tolerance class up to 500 mm — grades IT1–IT18, holes A–ZC (incl. CD, EF, FG, J6–J8, K/M/N above IT8, P–ZC above IT7) and shafts a–zc (incl. cd, ef, fg, j5–j7). Only combinations ISO 286 does not define for the size stay untoleranced and are flagged.
- ISO 286 fits: a size with a tolerance class (e.g. Ø40 H7, Ø12 g6) now gets its deviations from ISO 286 (Ø40 H7 → +0.025/0) instead of wrongly getting the ISO 2768 general tolerance. Covers sizes up to 500 mm, IT3–IT12, holes D–H, JS, K, M, N, P and shafts d–h, js, k, m, n, p, r, s. Other fits and fit pairs (H7/g6) stay untoleranced and are flagged for entry. Applies to new readings, private reading and the inspection sheet / AS9102.
- Read privately: the built-in engine reads a drawing (PDF, PNG, JPG) right in the browser — no upload, no storage, no AI. Balloons on the drawing, edit characteristics, enter measured values; export as inspection sheet (CSV), AS9102 forms (Excel) or PDF. Found under “New drawing”.
- CertX serves the engine files (WASM, text-recognition models) itself, not through a CDN.
- First article inspection to AS9102 Rev C: every inspection sheet now yields Forms 1 (part number accountability), 2 (materials, special processes, functional tests) and 3 (characteristic accountability). Form 3 takes balloon number, requirement with limits and measured value from the sheet; reference location (pre-filled with the sheet), characteristic designator, tooling and NCR number are added there.
- Export the AS9102 forms as an Excel workbook (.xlsx, one sheet per form) or as PDF.
- The built-in engine learns from your corrections: a label reviewers deleted on two drawings is no longer read; one they corrected the same way on two drawings is read correctly — immediately, for all readings of your tenant. Deleting duplicate balloons does not count.
- Engine benchmark: shows what the engine has learnt (single rules can be forgotten) and exports the corrections on engine readings as training data for the text recognition.
- Self sign-up: businesses create an account at certx.app/signup and try CertX free for 14 days (20 Claude reads, no credit card). The first account becomes the administrator of the new tenant and adds further users.
- Plans: Starter (€19.99, 100 Claude reads, each additional user €5), Pro (€79, 500 reads) and Business (€139, 1,000 reads), monthly, excl. VAT; further reads €0.25 each. The built-in engine reads without limit on every plan. Payment via Dodo Payments.
- New under Settings → Plan & usage: plan, the tenant’s Claude read counter, plan changes, invoices and payment method. The drawings overview shows the counter too.
- Built-in engine, scans: a turned “1” in a stroke font (a lying bar) is read, the dashes of dashed lines are not; side-by-side limits of turned labels (“20,5” | “19,5”) are joined into one size with its tolerance.
- Built-in engine: a new text-recognition model for drawing lettering (stroke and CAD fonts, Ø, ±, tolerances), trained on dimension labels of real drawings. It re-reads labels the existing recognition is unsure of; what it finds goes to review. Runs on the CertX server, without an AI provider.
- Built-in engine: a “1” in a stroke font (a thin solid bar) was not taken for a character on scans — “1,85” became “,85”. It is read now.
- Engine benchmark: “Export training data” creates image crops of the dimension labels of selected drawings with Claude’s values, to train the built-in engine’s text recognition — as a file in the tenant’s own storage with a link valid for one hour, logged and deletable.
- Engine benchmark shows the version it measures (CertX version and false-hit filter) and asks for a reload when the page is still open from an older version.
- Built-in engine reads more: sizes with “(TYP)” (also without a space), hole depth and counterbore (“Ø8 ↧ 50”), fits in brackets and written-out limits, chamfers with text (“CHAMFER 0.5X45° (TYP)”), “Ra max.”, sizes between words (“R1 UNDERCUT”, “6 HOLES ø9”, “PCD 200”) and values in notes (“Prüfdruck: 24 bar”). Uncertain cases go to review.
- False-hit filter retrained with the engine benchmark over 20 drawings: discards about twice as many false hits.
- Engine benchmark (Settings → Reading engine, administrators): reads drawings that have a Claude reading again with the built-in engine and compares characteristic by characteristic — found, sizes, misreads, false hits, with details per drawing.
- Built-in engine: a new false-hit filter discards read text that is not a characteristic (zone numbers, item numbers, table values) and sends borderline cases to review. Trained by comparison with Claude readings; runs without an AI provider.
- Reading several drawings: the progress card now names the engine or Claude model of the run (e.g. “Claude Sonnet 5.5”).
- Drawings: select several (list and grid, or “all shown”) and read them in one go with “Read selection” — with the choice of engine and, for administrators, of the Claude model (Opus 5.5 / Sonnet 5.5). A bar at the top shows the progress in %, the run can be stopped; failures are listed at the end.
- The black-out notice then appears once for the whole selection, naming how many drawings are not blacked out; the decision is logged per drawing. “Skip those not blacked out” reads only the blacked-out ones.
- Administrators can choose Claude Sonnet 5.5 when reading, to compare cost and result with Opus 5.5.
- Built-in engine much better on scans and images: short dimensions in the drawing area are found and read one by one (vertical and stacked limit dimensions too), the diameter sign Ø is recognised by its shape, and a coloured watermark no longer gets in the way. On test drawings it finds more than twice as many characteristics as before.
- Fewer false hits: print stamps at the sheet edge, legal notices and title text are no longer listed as characteristics; notes only when they state a requirement (edges, surface, tolerance, coating …).
- Usage & billing now shows AI cost from the actual token counts of every read (all attempts, prompt cache included) and every Butler question — with the cost per drawing. Older reads without token counts are estimated and shown as such. Administrators only.
- Butler questions are logged with time, person, model and token count — not their content.
- Suppliers: radius search around a postcode (10, 25, 50, 100 or 200 km), sorted by distance — branches included and across borders. Each card shows the distance; if the postcode also exists in other countries, they are offered. Coordinates: GeoNames (CC BY 4.0).
- Suppliers: new filters for city, postcode (the start is enough, e.g. “40”) and certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, EN 9100/9120, ISO 13485, PED/AD 2000, EN 10204). Country, city and postcode apply together to the same address, branches included — the matching branch is shown on the card.
- Team: a tidier user list without sideways scrolling; less frequent actions in the “⋯” menu.
- Two-factor authentication is now required for every account, with no grace period. Right after the first password change comes the 2FA setup, then name and phone; before that there is no data, neither in the app nor through the API.
- New phone: “Switch authenticator” under Profile & settings → Security. The old device is removed only once the new one is confirmed — “Remove 2FA” is gone.
- Lost phone: administrators (for their team) and the Master can reset an account’s 2FA; the person sets up a new device at the next sign-in. Every reset is logged.
- Settings and team management now check the password change and 2FA too.
- Security: two-factor authentication is now enforced on the server and in the database. With 2FA set up, the password alone no longer gives access to any data — only the code from the authenticator app does. A half-finished sign-in continues at the code step.
- Whether 2FA is on is now decided by the database from the enrolled authenticator factors; password-change and 2FA status can no longer be set by users themselves.
- Notice before reading with Claude: if the drawing is not blacked out, CertX advises blacking out the title block and client data first. “Don’t show this notice again” turns it off for your account, Profile & settings → Reading engine back on.
- Every answer to the notice is stored in the event log with date, time, name and the notice text shown — without a stored answer, nothing is read. Changes to the reading-engine settings are recorded with names too. The event log cannot be altered afterwards.
- For administrators: “Black out automatically before Claude” — before every Claude read, CertX blacks out the title block, detected client data and possible logos on its own server. If no title block is found, nothing is sent to Claude.
- Security: an account’s role and tenant can now only be changed through administration.
- Wherever CertX explains reading with Claude — the read dialog, settings, help, website and “A look inside the app” — it now also says how to keep customer data apart from the drawing: what you black out, Claude never sees; CertX reads the title block itself.
- “Black out title block” when redacting: covers the whole title block up to its frame lines. When Claude reads the redacted drawing, CertX reads title, drawing number, material, index and general tolerance on its own server from the original file — Claude sees only the drawing.
- “Suggest client data” now also finds possible logos in the title block (picture marks without readable text), without an AI provider. Please check every suggestion.
- Built-in engine: a field name outside the title block (e.g. a “general tolerances …” note on the drawing) no longer stretches the title block, and field values below their label are matched correctly.
- Anonymous reading: if a drawing is blacked out, Claude gets only the redacted first page — the rectangles are burned into the image on the server, covered areas are neither transmitted nor read. Photos stored rotated and WebP files are then not sent.
- “Suggest client data” when redacting: finds company names, addresses, contact details, confidentiality notices and people in the title block by text recognition on the CertX server, without an AI provider. You mark logos yourself.
- Deleting your account now takes two entries (“DELETE” and “delete my account”), deleting a drawing the entry “delete drawing”. The server checks both.
- Delete a drawing: in the drawing view under “Master data” → “Delete drawing”, with its file, preview, characteristics and protocol drafts. For the person who uploaded it and for administrators. Drawings with completed inspection protocols are kept as quality records.
- Deleting an account now also deletes the letterhead logo; removing a tenant deletes all uploaded files, not only the database rows.
- Privacy policy: deletion of accounts and drawings, the event log and the letterhead added.
- “A look inside the app” now also shows the letterhead: the setting with logo, company and address, and a printed inspection protocol with the logo top right and the footer with date stamp.
- “A look inside the app” now also shows the CertX Butler: what it answers, what it declines and when it is switched off.
- Butler: the input field and the send button are now labelled in English too.
- New website page “A look inside the app” (/einblick): shows the app’s screens — choosing the reading engine at every read, locking it for all users, review mode, viewing without balloons and zoom, redaction and RFQs. Linked from the header, the “How it works” section and the footer.
- Finer zoom: plus and minus change the view in 10 % steps, Ctrl/⌘ + mouse wheel and trackpad in 1–10 %. You can now also type the zoom level — click the percentage, enter a value (25–600 %), press Enter.
- Privacy policy: for customers in the EU the contracting party for the Claude API is Anthropic Ireland, Limited (Dublin); processing also takes place in the USA.
- View the drawing without balloons: “Without balloons” in the bottom bar hides every balloon. Clicking a characteristic, review mode or the balloon tool shows them again.
- Letterhead: under “Profile & settings → Letterhead” you add your logo, company and address. The logo sits top right on your inspection protocols; company and address with a date stamp (protocol no., inspection date, created, as of, page x of y) in the footer of every printed page.
- Request for quotation as a ready set for suppliers: title page with reference, part data and sender, the full characteristics list as a protocol (with fields for first-article inspection), the anonymised drawing with numbered balloons, and a general confidentiality agreement — forwarding only with prior written consent, with an acknowledgement block for the recipient. Logo and footer on every page.
- New file formats: besides PDF and images, CertX now accepts DXF drawings and 3D models as STEP/STP, IGES/IGS and STL. DXF is taken over 1:1 as a drawing and read like a CAD PDF.
- For 3D models CertX creates an inspection sheet with a shaded view and writes the characteristics straight from the model data: always the overall size, plus embedded dimensions, fits and GD&T (STEP AP242 PMI) or the dimensions of an IGES file.
- Large files: uploads now go straight to your tenant’s storage and are no longer limited to 1 MB.
- Lock the reading engine for all users: administrators tick “Lock for all users” under “Profile & settings → Reading engine”. The dialog then no longer appears when reading — every drawing of the tenant is read and redacted with the selected engine, enforced on the server.
- New for members: the supplier directory under “Suppliers” — about 360 European suppliers of stainless steel, nickel alloys and semi-finished products in more than 20 countries. Every detail comes from the suppliers’ own websites, with source and check date (locations, contact, products, grades, services, certifications).
- One search for company, city, product and grade: “1.4404”, “14404” and “316L” find the same suppliers. Plus filters by country and product group.
- Choose the reading engine on every read: “Extract characteristics” opens a dialog with Claude (AI) and the built-in engine, each with a short explanation. Preselected is the engine of the last read; for new drawings the tenant default from “Profile & settings → Reading engine”.
- Redaction uses the same engine as the drawing’s last read — a drawing read without an AI provider stays without one.
- Built-in reading engine: CertX can now read drawings without any AI provider — exactly from the text layer of CAD PDFs, by text recognition for scans and images. Uncertain values land in review mode. Administrators choose the engine under “Profile & settings → Reading engine”.
- With the built-in engine, redaction suggests company name, address, contact details, confidentiality notice and people from the title block, also without an AI provider; the Butler is switched off.
- AI reading in the EU: CertX can use Claude through Amazon Bedrock in EU regions only (Frankfurt, EU inference profile). Drawings, anonymisation and Butler questions then never leave the EU; the website, help and privacy policy always show the processing that is actually active.
- Review mode: clicking “n to review” highlights the uncertain values on the drawing, zooms to each one and opens it for editing; “Save & next” jumps to the next.
- New layout: the drawing sidebar floats as a rounded card over the drawing and can be collapsed; the CertX Butler now sits top right in the header.
- Master: new “Member view” — use the workspace exactly as members see it (in your own operator tenant; other tenants’ drawings stay private).
- More accurate characteristic reading and balloon placement: extraction now runs on Claude Opus 5.5 by default (bulk: Claude Sonnet 5.5), with more headroom for very dense drawings.
- Protocol drafts can now be deleted directly in the drawing view (with confirmation); released protocols stay protected as records.
- The protocol list in the side panel is now scrollable — many drafts no longer push the characteristics and metrics off-screen.
- Master: rename a tenant and reprint the onboarding letter for the first credentials (initial password stays fixed).
- 2FA notice banner: the button label is now clearly legible (contrast fixed).
- Markedly more accurate balloon placement on the drawing (extraction now reads a rendered page image instead of the PDF directly).
- Edit balloons: draw a balloon straight onto the callout, move or resize existing balloons, add or delete characteristics.
- The language switcher now works end to end: the whole interface (workspace, settings, tenant, master) is available in German and English.
- Master: new EU AI Act conformity dashboard with live metrics (Art. 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 72).
- Dark theme is now the default; light remains an option (toggle, remembered).
- Drawing view: the drawing renders as black-on-white paper even in dark mode.
- The CertX Butler can be dragged anywhere (position remembered).

- Inspection protocol: measured values show green (in tolerance) / red (out) instantly; export as Excel/CSV in addition to PDF print; mobile-friendly.
- Onboarding letter: the initial password stays fixed and can be reprinted any time — a dedicated "Reset password" button is the only thing that changes it; it is cleared after first sign-in.
- First sign-in: the password change runs server-side — fixes the "Auth session missing" error.
- More accurate characteristic markers on the drawing (improved extraction).
- CertX Butler: a built-in assistant that answers only questions about your own CertX data (drawings, inspection protocols, metrics) and how to use CertX — no general AI requests.
- Profile: “Security” is now “Profile”, bundling personal details, preferences (language, light/dark), password, 2FA and billing.
- Tenant: admins manage their own team (add users/admins, reset passwords, remove) and print a bilingual onboarding letter with login credentials.
